Summery: Ash and Natalie are just starting to build a life together when things in the United Sentry States go from bad to worse. Ash and Natalie find themselves at the center of turmoil when dictator Purian Rose threatens Natalie’s life unless Ash votes in favor of Rose’s Law—a law that will send Darklings and other dissenters to a deadly concentration camp known as the Tenth.
When Ash can’t bring himself to trade Natalie’s life for those of millions of Darklings, her fate is sealed. Enter Elijah Theroux, the handsome Bastet boy Natalie once saved from her mother’s labs, where he’d been experimented on and tortured. It was his venom the Sentry used to create the lethal Golden Haze, the heart of the government conspiracy that led to Black City’s uprising and Ash’s rebirth as the Phoenix, the face of the rebellion. Elijah is back and Ash doesn’t like him; it’s clear he’s taken with Natalie, and Ash fears she may have feelings for him as well.

But Elijah also may have the answer to taking down Purian Rose for good—a powerful weapon called the Ora. Ash, Natalie and Elijah just have to escape Black City undetected to find it. But fleeing the city and finding this weapon (if it even exists) are easier said than done, and the quest could tear Ash and Natalie apart, even pushing them into the arms of others.

This enthralling sequel to Black City is just as absorbing, delicious and steamy as the first book, leaving readers hungry for the series conclusion.

My Review: I love the first book Black City thought it was a great twist for a dystopian book. I just loved the whole darkness feel to it. There is different kinds of Creatures like Darklings that are pretty much like vampires. I am legit in love with Ash. I was super pumped to read Phoenix after waiting so long to get my hands on it. I was gonna wait until it came out on paperback but i just couldn’t wait any longer. The Cover is super amazing, i am in love. The covers in this series are always so eye catching. Black City is one of those books where if made into a movie it would be awesome. Full of cool awesome action packed scenes.

The book starts off a little after the end of black city after Ash rises from the ashes giving him the name Black Phoenix..Phoenix for short. Purian rose threatens ash that he will kill Natalie if he didn’t vote yes. but that would mean millions of darklings dead. Purian tricks Ash and takes Polly instead.

Losing the voting anyways a war starts and ash and Natalie are part of the rebels. Natalie and ash try and take down Purian Rose for all the bad he has done. Elijah is back after Natalie save him from the lab from the first book Black City. Elijah promises them that he knows how to defeat Purian Rose. But he has to find his mother to get the weapon that would kill him. Elijah is a bastet. He is a cat-human and even has a tail, and he is scared of Birds. he is freaking awesome. While reading the book you see that Elijah has a thing for Natalie. which brings jealousy for ash.

Purian rose is a twisted character. he wants to destroy pretty much everything that is not like him, and far what he did, Natalie has him on her Revenge list. She want him dead. Sebastian is Purian Rose servant boy and once upon a time Natalie trusted him but he betrayed her in Black City. It is safe to say that i hate Purian Rose and Sebastian to the core. and after you read Phoenix you will understand why.

one thing that bugs me in movies and books is the mention of rape. I just hate it. I swear men who rape woman should be hanged and i hate violence. It’s just really wrong and it’s hard for me to read a book when it is mention.

Phoenix puts you threw so much heart ache. I have to say Natalie did annoy me a lot in black city but in Phoenix she has grown on me. she does have her up and downs and her mistakes but you just understand her. She is a Fighter and a brave soul. but there was still some moments where she is just being stupid.

Elizabeth Richards did a amazing job on all her characters, she made them feel so real when reading the book. Phoenix is really easy to follow along with. There wasn’t very much dull moments. I read every word with no skipping, so that should say a lot.  I just love books where you could just lose yourself in the pages and phoenix did that for me. Phoenix is a little different then Black City. Black City just had this Dark Gothic feel to it, and Phoenix is more towards a Dystopian adventure. Phoenix didn’t have that much darkness feel to it like black city did but it still had a moments where you want to lock your doors at night.

Phoenix is full of twist and turns and many shocking moments. I shed a few tears here and there. more then others. I just really love this series. Some might not like it or not get it but in my opinion is was just AWESOME. I totally recommend this series, it’s just so different to the other dystopian books i have read. a Dystopian book dipped in the supernatural. Come on now, Amazeballs.

I honestly think Phoenix is better then Black City. It’s more of an intense read. with lots of Action and adventure and ROMANCE! can’t forget about that. Hint: There is sort of kinda of a  love triangle.

Darklings: Are like Vampires. They need blood to survive.

Lupines: are dog-human creatures that similarity’s to werewolfs.

Bastets: Cat like creatures that have tails but look human-ish.

Overall amazing and can’t wait for Wings to come out!
