add-to-goodreads-button3Summery: In a world ravaged by mutation, a teenage girl must travel into the forbidden Savage Zone to recover lost artifacts or her father’s life is forfeit.

America has been ravaged by a war that has left the eastern half of the country riddled with mutation. Many of the people there exhibit varying degrees of animal traits. Even the plantlife has gone feral.

Crossing from west to east is supposed to be forbidden, but sometimes it’s necessary. Some enter the Savage Zone to provide humanitarian relief. Sixteen-year-old Lane’s father goes there to retrieve lost artifacts—he is a Fetch. It’s a dangerous life, but rewarding—until he’s caught.

Desperate to save her father, Lane agrees to complete his latest job. That means leaving behind her life of comfort and risking life and limb—and her very DNA—in the Savage Zone. But she’s not alone. In order to complete her objective, Lane strikes a deal with handsome, roguish Rafe. In exchange for his help as a guide, Lane is supposed to sneak him back west. But though Rafe doesn’t exhibit any signs of “manimal” mutation, he’s hardly civilized . . . and he may not be trustworthy.

I fell in love with the story right off the bat. The Writing was done beautiful. I just really love to read about Lane and her adventures outside the wall.

She always wanted to see outside the walls. Her and group of friends try to take a little toy helicopter with a camera and then was shot down. They run away before getting caught. But when Lane thought everything was fine, men in mask comes and takes her. Lane has been put in a tough spot. She is forced to go outside of the walls to find her father on a mission.

What i thought was really interesting about the whole story was people get mutated into mix animals like: Monkeys, Lions, Dogs, and any other animal you can think of. They slowly turn into monsters..but some take longer and they can still talk and act some what normal. But overtime they slowly become insane and without warning.

Finding her father she comes across Everson and Rafe a hunter.  all three of them head into the Feral Zone to help find her father and Everson to find the cure. The book hints to a love triangle but it’s dealble( I don’t know if that’s even a word ). Lane isn’t obsessed with ether of them..she see that finding her father is more important. I like how the book wasn’t all about the romance and the love triangle and you got to really read and feel the overall story.

Lane and Rafe have a connection. Rafe has know her father since he was a boy. Her father has been telling them story’s of each other mix in fairy tale story’s. The book towards the end reminded me of Beauty and the Beast and Wizard of oz once you have read the story you will understand why i have to point that out. You know Lane cares for both of the boys..but you can tell she will always care for Rafe more. And just thinking about it makes me so sad for Rafe.

Rafe and Everson together makes me crack up at times..Both completely different people but they bicker like siblings. You get to meet a lot of great characters and even funny ones. One i am to sad to mention cause his ending, i have to say was the saddest of them all. I was in a puddle of freaking tears lets just say.

Overall i was hooked from beginning to the end. I was hooked to ever word. The book has it’s really funny moments and really sad moments. But the Action Adventure will have readers zone in to the story, clinging to the pages. I really had a hard time putting the book down because i loved it so much. I can honestly say this book is one of my favorites this year.

I really want more Lane and Rafe someway..i freaking most! I really like Everson but i just don’t think he can handle Lane like Rafe can//*Wink*  Overall the story is fan-girl worthy..I couldn’t find a single flaw about this book. I totally recommend YA readers to give this Dystopian book a chance. It’s amazing.

I wasn’t quite as in love as you, but everything you said about Rafe is spot on! He was my favorite part of the book for sure, and I think Everson should take a flying leap off a cliff and just leave me to ship Lane and Rafe.

    Yes, that sounds very nice.

Sounds more then nice! Everson is more like the friend not a boyfriend type.
