An electromagnetic pulse flashes across the sky, destroying every electronic device, wiping out every computerized system, and killing billions.
Alex hiked into the woods to say good-bye to her dead parents and her personal demons. Now desperate to find out what happened after the pulse crushes her to the ground, Alex meets up with Tom—a young soldier—and Ellie, a girl whose grandfather was killed by the EMP.

For this improvised family and the others who are spared, it’s now a question of who can be trusted and who is no longer human.

Author Ilsa J. Bick crafts a terrifying and thrilling novel about a world that could be ours at any moment, where those left standing must learn what it means not just to survive, but to live amidst the devastation.

Gripped me from beginning to end – dark, creepy and suspenseful. James Dashner,

A haunting and epic story of survival in a shattered world, ASHES is a must read.

First i want to point out the beginning will bring you chills. so keep the lights out if you hate zombies. Zombies well sort of, are like the movie The Crazies. They aren’t really the living dead, eating brains. They are Alive but freaking crazy cannibals, but pretty much zombies. in the short of beginning you learn they affect the younger ages, like children and teens.

The thing about me is, i don’t like zombies. I have nightmares of zombies all the time. They just freak me out. but i also really love The Walking Dead. Ashes was such a epic story, it was more then just about zombies. It had such a deep interesting story that give the book brownie points.

I liked how you got more of the story then just zombie-like crazy people every 10 seconds of the book. Tho the book didn’t have that much action, i would have loved for more of Action. But the overall story was a major impact on me. It had me thinking of what i would do if i was in her shoes. Now i probably wouldn’t be as much as a bad-ass as she is but damn i would try. Let’s face it i might be the ones who kick pick-off from the start. I don’t do much activity… so i guess you can say i’m weak.

You easy fall love with the Characters. Even the ones you shouldn’t but let me tell you i just couldn’t hate them. You get a awesome packed adventure of these people and watch the struggle to survive. I walked in the story feeling like it would have been too much for my taste, but walked out a fan. I loved the story.

Out of all the Characters i fell in love with Tom, he didn’t have to stay and help but he did. You can see his been threw so much but has a huge heart. If the world ends up like ashes i would want Tom on my side.

The ending of the book opens up to more on the darker side of the story that you wont even find out until the next book…which i am gonna buy a.s.a.p. The ending was freaking crazy and that’s all i am gonna say.

Overall a good read, I really liked it and recommend the book to my reading buddies.  I was a little disappointed in the lack of action but the overall story makes-up for it.
