add-to-goodreads-button3Summery: The Red Man is coming …

Five years after her sister disappeared, seventeen-year-old Adrienne finds the strength to return to her father’s home in New Orleans. But soon after she arrives, the mark of a curse appears on her, leaving her worried. Will she be the next victim of a four-hundred-year old family curse … the next to be claimed by a serial killer roaming the back alleys of the city?

The day before his senior year begins, Jayden is given a skeleton key passed down through his family for generations — a gruesome reminder of how his ancestors betrayed their own people and sold them into slavery. He doesn’t believe in the curse the key allegedly bears and puts it away with the intention of forgetting about its message. Until he meets Adrienne, a girl he’s compelled to for more reasons than her beauty.

He’s not the only one who notices her. A man in a skeleton mask and a voodoo gang member are also drawn to Adrienne. One is determined to protect her. The other intends to mislead her. Haunted by the mythical Red Man, all are connected to the ancient curse.

Can they overcome their misgivings about one another and prevent the dark prophecy looming over them? Or will they be lured away from each other by evil’s siren song?

The book sounded like it would be really awesome read and the cover was really cool..but sadly the beginning didn’t keep my attention as much as i would like. The way the book was written was pretty plain to me and half the time i would find myself really bored.

I couldn’t relate with any of the characters. The characters in the book aren’t very rememberable to me. And it wasn’t just the characters. I would get lost on what was going on a lot and i had to keep repeating what i read. When stuff starts to get good it was rushed. you have to go threw a maze before you understand the whole plot. I did skip a lot of parts, not really meaning to but it just wasn’t catching my attention.

I really tried to like the book but it was hard. I had a difficult time finishing the book. It did have it’s good moments in the book and i also can see people really liking the book. It just wasn’t for me.

The book isn’t out yet, so i don’t want to say too much. I do honestly recommend people to read this book when it comes out and give it a chance.

The really cool thing about the book is it is based in New Orleans. And of course New Orleans screams Spooky and well parties but mostly spooky. and the book definitely highlights that whole New Orleans Voodoo Myth. I always wanted to visit New Orleans. The place just sounds so freaking fun.

Overall: The beginning was boring, I wish the characters would have stand out a little more and then maybe i could of got more into it. The book didn’t totally suck. I have read worse. The Writing i feel like can lean more towards older then younger.

YA Book Review : The Angel Experiment

Title: Maximum Ride : The Angel Experiment
Author: James Patterson
Published: 2005 By Little, Brown and Company
Type: Fantasy, Science Fiction
Hardcover, 420 Pages
Source: Gift/Bought

add-to-goodreads-button3 Summery: Get ready for the maximum thrill ride from #1 New York Times bestselling author James Patterson.

After the mutant Erasers abduct the youngest member of their group, the “bird kids”, who are the result of genetic experimentation, take off in pursuit and find themselves struggling to understand their own origins and purpose.

My Review: My first ever James Patterson read, Yup you heard me right. I never read Any of his books, Not that i didn’t want to, just never got around to it. My Mother was the one who wanted me to read this series and she is the one who bought it for me. I have seen this book around a lot and now there is a huge fan base for this series.

The book starts off with Max Escaping the place she calls the “School” were there is people who where experimenting on her and others. Max has wings like an angel and so does others she escaped with. They have been hiding from these people ever since, until one day the youngest name angel is taking by erasers who are like human wolfs, back to the “School” so Max, Fang and Nudge go and save her.

You don’t just read in Max PoV, you also read in Angel, Iggy and Nudge and even Gazzy. There isn’t any romance in this book and if there is, it’s not in the first book. It’s just mostly about max and others trying to find answers and saving the world kinda thing. What i don’t get is why it took me soo long to read this series, i really really liked the book. I got pretty zoned into this book and was p all night until 5 am trying to finish it. Max and the others are always on the run from the erasers. It has a lot of adventures in it.

I have to say this has been my favorite read of the month. It was soo good i want to give it a thousands stars. I have to get my hands on this whole series soon.

The Story is intense, it’s just one huge crazy ride after the next. There is never a dull moment. Judging from my copy, the cover is okay-ish not really a fan of it, but without the cover sleeve it’s awesome with the bad ass Maximum Ride symbol.

If you haven’t read this series yet READ it. It will shock you and leave you speechless. The endding is mind blowing. I wish the book didn’t end cause i wanted to just read it forever and ever. I have so much unanswered questions. You will like the Twist and turns of the book and the Fantasy with all kinds of crazy things. Dig in.

Now i am gonna go hide a rock with my copy until i can read the next book. Highly recommend, it’s a must read, so read it Book worms.

YA Book Review: Need

: Need
Author: Carrie Jones
Published:2009 By Bloomsbury USA
Type: Paranormal, Fantasy, Supernatural
Paperback, 306 Pages

Summery:Pain shoots through my head. Fireworks. Explosions. All inside my brain. The white world goes dark and I know what’s about to happen.

Zara White suspects there’s a freaky guy semi-stalking her. She’s also obsessed with phobias. And it’s true, she hasn’t exactly been herself since her stepfather died. But exiling her to shivery Maine to live with her grandmother? That seems a bit extreme. The move is supposed to help her stay sane…but Zara’s pretty sure her mom just can’t deal with her right now.

She couldn’t be more wrong. Turns out the semi-stalker is not a figment of Zara’s overactive imagination. In fact, he’s still following her, leaving behind an eerie trail of gold dust. There’s something not right – not human – in this sleepy Maine town, and all signs point to Zara.

In this creepy, compelling breakout novel, Carrie Jones delivers romance, suspense, and a creature you never thought you’d have to fear.

My Review: I was recommended the book from a few people, who also said i would love the series. I seen a few people reading it, so i had to see what the hype was about. I really did like how each chapter list a Phobia and what it means, it made it where i couldn’t wait to get to the next chapter just to see other phobias. The cover is simple but sometimes less is more, i like simple sometimes, and i thought the cover was pretty.

The story is an one point of view, Zara is all about saving the world and doing whats right. She moved to Maine after she went threw a depressed stage when her Father died ( who was actually her step dad ). She discovers about Pixies and Weres, Weres are like werewolfs and other type of animal, they also are called swifters. The writing is simple, i like that because then the story doesn’t get to boring with too much detailed, the book is easy to follow. I thought the story was nice touch, i really like the concept of it.

After finishing Need, i now have Hylephobia ( fear of woods ), thanks Carrie. I really like Zara and Nick but besides them my favorite character is Issie, Why? Well because she likes hello kitty, and i am obsessed with hello kitty.

I really liked the series and Highly recommend it to any super

Article 5 ( 1 ) By Kristen Simmons

About the book

“New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C., have been abandoned.

The Bill of Rights has been revoked, and replaced with the Moral Statutes.

There are no more police—instead, there are soldiers. There are no more fines for bad behavior—instead, there are arrests, trials, and maybe worse. People who get arrested usually don’t come back.

Seventeen-year-old Ember Miller is old enough to remember that things weren’t always this way. Living with her rebellious single mother, it’s hard for her to forget that people weren’t always arrested for reading the wrong books or staying out after dark. It’s hard to forget that life in the United States used to be different.

Ember has perfected the art of keeping a low profile. She knows how to get the things she needs, like food stamps and hand-me-down clothes, and how to pass the random home inspections by the military. Her life is as close to peaceful as circumstances allow.

That is, until her mother is arrested for noncompliance with Article 5 of the Moral Statutes. And one of the arresting officers is none other than Chase Jennings—the only boy Ember has ever loved.”

My Review

My Overall rating is 4.5

Only because some scene left me a little bit confused, that i hope the 2nd book will
explain more.

But besides that this book was amazing. The story line was so different compared to
the usual dystopian books i have read. I enjoyed Emily’s story, reading what she had gone threw had me in tears. Emily was a bad ass, not so much in the beginning but reading the book you watch grow into a bad ass.

Emily’s Boyfriend ( Well ex sorta you have to read the book to know what i’m talking about )
Chase is a Old childhood friend who later on joined the MM Solders. Reading the book you know he is a mystery that you know he has secrets. But you knew reading Article 5 that his still cares.
you know that he goes threw a lot of depression stuff.

Article 5 is a non stop Action, you go threw a lot of shocking Twist sort of.
A lot of suspense, that had me flipping threw the pages like lighting speed i just had to finish this book i couldn’t put in down.

“I wondered what he’d done that had been so terrible that he wouldn’t accept even an ounce of kindness from another person. It seemed impossible just then that I could ever hate him more than he hated himself.”

The ending ending leaves you wanting more, once you finish the book you kinda have a clue what’s gonna happen in the 2nd book breaking point, but it still left you with a cliff hanger cause there is still a lot of story that needs to be told. This book has somewhat of a religion influence in this book. that kinda reminds me of a world run by a cult. But this book is a amazing dystopian story for YA reader’s and even the “little” older crowd.

Extras (Uglies #4) By Scott Westerfeld

About the book

It’s a few years after rebel Tally Youngblood took down the uglies/pretties/specials regime. Without those strict roles and rules, the world is in a complete cultural renaissance. “Tech-heads” flaunt their latest gadgets, “kickers” spread gossip and trends, and “surge monkeys” are hooked on extreme plastic surgery. And it’s all monitored on a bazillion different cameras. The world is like a gigantic game of “American Idol.” Whoever is getting the most buzz gets the most votes. Popularity rules.

As if being fifteen doesn’t suck enough, Aya Fuse’s rank of 451,369 is so low, she’s a total nobody. An extra. But Aya doesn’t care; she just wants to lie low with her drone, Moggle. And maybe kick a good story for herself.

Then Aya meets a clique of girls who pull crazy tricks, yet are deeply secretive of it. Aya wants desperately to kick their story, to show everyone how intensely cool the Sly Girls are. But doing so would propel her out of extra-land and into the world of fame, celebrity…and extreme danger. A world she’s not prepared for.

My Review

First what an ENDING! Finish the whole series and it has been a emotional roller coaster but an crazy adventure just wow.

It Take me a few days to finish only because Aya had me wanting to poke my eyes out. I had to shut the book a few times just breath and yell ” Stop being a obsessive Kicking junkie”, but the ending made up for it.
Tho i really wish i could had more Tally and David moments in the book ( I ship them )

Uglies is a great YA series that i recommend to anyone that likes futuristic Science fiction books.

Scott Westerfelds writing will get you sucked in right away. His characters all have some kinda of story so you get to enjoy them in some kinda way.

Extras is based in japan where you get to follow the story of Aya a few years after the book specials ended. Aya is a kicker ( Kicker means people who seek story to be famous ) She tries to be famous cause she is just an Extra Which is people who are low on the face rank. When she hangs out with the sly girls she discovers something huge that would kick herself to fame.

Aya in the book kinda reminds me of Tally in the first book before everything happens.
And then there is Frizz. he can not lie he fixed his brain to where he can’t lie or keep a secret. Them two are really cute together. My new otps.
