YA Book Review: Revelations by Melissa De La Cruz

Title: Revelations (Blue Bloods #3)
Author: Melissa De La Cruz
Published: November 11th 2009 by Disney/Hyperion
Type: Paranormal, Romance, Vampires
Source: PBS

add-to-goodreads-button3Summery: Schuyler Van Allen’s blood legacy has just been called into question: is the young vampire in fact a Blue Blood, or is it the sinister Silver Blood that runs through her veins? As controversy swirls, Schuyler is left stranded in the Force household, trapped under the same roof as her cunning nemesis, Mimi Force, and her forbidden crush, Jack Force.

When an ancient place of power is threatened in Rio de Janeiro, however, the Blue Bloods need Schuyler on their side. The stakes are high, the battle is bloody; and through it all Schuyler is torn between duty and passion, love and freedom.

Romance, glamour, and vampire love collide in the highly anticipated third book in the best-selling author Melissa de la Cruz’s Blue Bloods series.

I have to say this series just keeps getting better. There is a little more action going on in this book compared to the rest even tho it doesn’t happens until towards the end. you could tell the the book was leading to something much bigger then what we have been dealing with in the blue bloods series.

I really enjoy Melissa Writing. She knows how to keep you reading. You could really feel the characters in her writing. you don;t they to be told who you are reading about , it just comes to you easily. The characters all have such different personality’s it’s really hard to get confused on who is who.

The more the books go the more i find Jack and Schuyler are annoying together.  I really like all the characters just hate the obsessed romance they have. It get’s pretty clear that they are not meant to be together. you can’t feel the connection between the two. I more of Sky and Ollie. I really feel bad, he cares so much for Sky but no matter how hard he tries to make sky get it, she just doesn’t see. I wanted to slap her a few times in the series…i mean come on! yeah jack is like awesome but how can you say no to Ollie?

There was a few parts in the book that had me close to tears and parts that really shocked me. The series just keeps getting better and darker when it comes with the plot. Not only does Sky have to deal with Mimi but she also has to deal with darker evil then the sliver bloods and protect her grandfather.

The book was full of shocking turns that literately had me gasping for air and me going ” No, no…omg, omg!” Bliss has more of the spotlight in this book..her character in Revelations is really important..and i was shocked on finding out what happened to her and Dylan and everything.

The book does have some little flaws but the overall book itself overpowers them. If you haven’t read the first book in the series…i will repeat read it. You will love the characters good and bad. like i said the book really does just get better and better, so far anyways. Even tho i do feel like the book could have done without the love triangles.

YA Book Review: Frozen By Melissa De La Cruz

Title: Frozen ( Heart of Dread #1 )
Authors: Melissa De La Cruz, Michael Johnston
Published: September 17th 2013 by Putnam Juvenile
Type: Dystopia, Scienice Fiction, Fantasy
Hardcover, 336 pages

Summery: From New York Times bestselling author Melissa de la Cruz and Michael Johnston comes this remarkable first book in a spellbinding new series about the dawn of a new kind of magic.Welcome to New Vegas, a city once covered in bling, now blanketed in ice. Like much of the destroyed planet, the place knows only one temperature—freezing. But some things never change. The diamond in the ice desert is still a 24-hour hedonistic playground and nothing keeps the crowds away from the casino floors, never mind the rumors about sinister sorcery in its shadows. At the heart of this city is Natasha Kestal, a young blackjack dealer looking for a way out. Like many, she’s heard of a mythical land simply called “the Blue.” They say it’s a paradise, where the sun still shines and the waters are turquoise. More importantly, it’s a place where Nat won’t be persecuted, even if her darkest secret comes to light. But passage to the Blue is treacherous, if not impossible, and her only shot is to bet on a ragtag crew of mercenaries led by a cocky runner named Ryan Wesson to take her there. Danger and deceit await on every corner, even as Nat and Wes find themselves inexorably drawn to each other. But can true love survive the lies? Fiery hearts collide in this fantastic tale of the evil men do and the awesome power within us all.

rbI love the quote before the books starts it was amazing and when they used the line from Imagine Dragons song “It’s Time” I giggled like a crazy person. I am obsessed with that band. I was really Pumped to read the book after that.

I really liked the Blue Blood series. I haven’t finished the whole series but the ones i have read where awesome. I was really happy to Hear that Melissa was writing a dystopian books. They are my favorite type of books. To see Melissa and Micheal’s P.o.v to a dystopian book was awesome. I thought they did a good job on portraying the whole concept.

The first pages called ” The Voice of the Monster ” was really spooky and intense. I loved it. The Beginning won me over. I just loved how the book was written. It was easy to follow. Watching these people go threw survival and struggle to get where they need to go was beautifully written and honest.

Nat has a voice in her head telling her what to do, she tried to fight it but soon she finds out how much she is connected  to the voice and she most not ignore it. She escapes solitary and goes hiding in New Vegas. She is trying to find the Blue water that has known to be a myth. The word is full cold and the waters are black. Around New Vegas is just a waste land. People who have a mark have powers and are Rotting away.

Wes is a formal Marine at age sixteen He struggles to earn money for his crew. he is part of the Military Secret Division, But jobs are hard to come by. Wes and Nats lives connect when Wes is the only person and his crew that can help her to the Blue Waters. They go threw a lot of problems and struggles and even lose people on the way.

Frozen is action packed. A dystopian with a touch of romance but not to much to make the book cheesy. They book wasn’t all about the romance it was so much more then that. There is a lot of twist and turns that will make your heart just stop. There was not Love triangle which i was very thankful for…at-least not yet! who knows what the 2nd book is gonna be about. I thought the whole concept and plot was interesting and different. There wasn’t a dull moment in the back.. A great dystopian book i recommend it for sure.

YA Book Review: Masquerade

  • Title: Masquerade ( Blue Bloods #2 )
  • Author: Melissa De La Cruz
  • Published: 2007 By Hyperion Teen
  • Type: Vampires, Urban Fantasy, Supernatural
  • Paperback, 307 Pages
  • Source: Bookmooch Trade

Summery: Schuyler Van Alen is starting to get more comfortable with her newfound vampire powers, but she still has many unanswered questions. A trip to Italy in search of her grandfather only serves to make things more confusing. What secrets are the leaders of The Committee hiding? Meanwhile, back in New York, preparations are feverishly underway for the famous Four Hundred Ball. In true Blue Blood fashion, the ball is totally fab, complete with masks-and hidden behind this masquerade is a revelation that will change the course of a young vampire’s destiny.

The thrilling sequel in Melissa de la Cruz’s vampire mythology has all the glamour, attitude, and vampire lore that made the first book a hit.

My Review: Masquerade is the second book in the Blue Bloods Series. Blue Bloods are Vampires who live for decades but when they reach a certain time they regenerate into new cell body’s. Some blue bloods are archangels who chooses to be Blue Bloods. Schuyler is a new Blue Blood who is half human. There is different kinds of Vampires : Blue bloods and Sliver Bloods, Sliver Bloods are angels who fall from the heaven when they chooses to side with Lucifer himself. Sliver bloods are evil and the only ones who can kill a blue bloods. Humans are called Red bloods by the blue bloods, some Red bloods know about blue bloods and even help kept them secret from the rest of the human race.

The Book starts with Schuyler and Oliver who went to Italy to find her Grandfather after her Grandmother was killed by a sliver blood in the first book. She was Told that her Grandfather knew the secrets to fight the sliver bloods.

Schuyler has this old spirit feel about her. She is young but has this wisdom and beauty about her. She Loves jack but she also has a connection with Oliver. Schuyler has urges for blood and needs a human to be hers or she could be put in a coma like her mother, and the only to do so is with Oliver but it changes things between the two.

The Book does have a weird love triangle thing going on but it’s really complicated. The Book isn’t all about love. I liked how the book wasn’t all about the love triangle but more to what the story was about, fighting the sliver bloods and why. Masquerade still has all the supernatural Twist that you got in the first book, but more intense.

The ending was a crazy ride with lots of suppresses, and huge cliffhanger that left you wanting more. Fantastic read. I really wanted to find out more on whats gonna happen between Schuyler and Jack. I just want more.
