Summery: An all-new, edge-of-your seat adventure from James Dashner, the author of the New York Times bestselling Maze Runner series, The Eye of Mindsis the first book in The Mortality Doctrine, a series set in a world of hyperadvanced technology, cyberterrorists, and gaming beyond your wildest dreams . . . and your worst nightmares.
Michael is a gamer. And like most gamers, he almost spends more time on the VirtNet than in the actual world. The VirtNet offers total mind and body immersion, and it’s addictive. Thanks to technology, anyone with enough money can experience fantasy worlds, risk their life without the chance of death, or just hang around with Virt-friends. And the more hacking skills you have, the more fun. Why bother following the rules when most of them are dumb, anyway?
But some rules were made for a reason. Some technology is too dangerous to fool with. And recent reports claim that one gamer is going beyond what any gamer has done before: he’s holding players hostage inside the VirtNet. The effects are horrific—the hostages have all been declared brain-dead. Yet the gamer’s motives are a mystery.
The government knows that to catch a hacker, you need a hacker.
And they’ve been watching Michael. They want him on their team.
But the risk is enormous. If he accepts their challenge, Michael will need to go off the VirtNet grid. There are back alleys and corners in the system human eyes have never seen and predators he can’t even fathom—and there’s the possibility that the line between game and reality will be blurred forever.
I wanna say that i LOVE The Maze Runner series and really excited to watch the movie next year (i hate waiting). I was really happy to hear that Dashner was writing another series and it happened to be The Eye of Minds. When i read about it, i remember jumping up and down with enjoyment. I had such high hopes for the series. I am a huge fan of Science Fiction and Dystopian and well Video Games. With all that added, i knew the book was gonna be right down my alley.
in the beginning the story to drag on a little bit, i did find myself bored a few times. But the story does get better the more you read. I didn’t love this book a 100%, not as much as The Maze Runner, but i still really enjoyed the book.
The characters in the book wasn’t as memorable, but i did really like them. They just don’t stand out to me as much as i would have liked. Tho some characters did grow on me more towards the end. Like Sarah’s character. I really liked her personally. I feel like Michael without Sarah would have been pointless. She had book smarts and kept them on their toes. And the fact she was the only girl in their little group. Just means she is my favorite…Just saying.
When you get more towards the end, Everything gets more intense. full suspense adventures. The story is pact with twist and turns, Things i wasn’t expecting.
I have to say, The ending kinda left me in a daze. Lets just say i didn’t see it coming. I feel like everyone will be shocked by it. And it makes waiting for the second book hard, cause i just really want to know what teh F— Dashner.
There was a part with Sarah and Michael that had me almost in tears. Just like The Maze Runner, Dashner is not shy of writing and knows just what to get you. I might not have loved the story but i sure did like it. If you loved The Maze Runner series you wont be disappointed in The eye of Minds. I 100% recommend it.
