add-to-goodreads-button3Summery: Veronica doesn’t think she’s going crazy. But why can’t anyone else see the mysterious blond boy who keeps popping up wherever she goes? When her best friend, Mackenna, invites her to spend the summer in Scotland, Veronica jumps at the opportunity to leave her complicated life behind for a few months.

But the Scottish countryside holds other plans.

Not only has the imaginary kilted boy followed her to Alloway, she and Mackenna uncover a strange set of rings and a very unnerving letter from Mackenna’s great aunt—and when the girls test the instructions Aunt Gracie left behind, they find themselves transported to a land that defies explanation. Doon seems like a real-life fairy tale, complete with one prince who has eyes for Mackenna and another who looks suspiciously like the boy from Veronica’s daydreams. But Doon has a dark underbelly as well. The two girls could have everything they’ve longed for…or they could end up breaking an enchantment and find themselves trapped in a world that has become a nightmare.

DOON is loosely based on the premise of the musical Brigadoon, with permission from the ALan Jay Lerner Estate and the Frederick Loewe Foundation. Follow the journey at http://www.DoonSeries.com

The story is about Veronica and Mackenna. Two best friends with different life’s. Veronica takes a trip with Kenna to Scotland to Visit her dead Aunts house. Veronica starts to see a boy in a kilt ( which let me add Guys in kilts are hot. ). Now this guy his some ghostly figure telling her to ” Come to him ” and she starts falling in love with this ghostly figure in a kilt that only seems to show up when she is distressed. To me that was a huge turn off in the book. I for one would be crept out by it. Like just nope. I will pass on that. In the beginning just seemed awkward to me.

Veronica Finds Kenna’s aunts Journal. That talks about a magical place called Dune. Veronica is is determined to get to Doon to be with her mysterious Kilt boy. Yeah i am so over the “love-in-first-sight” mumble jumble. But besides all that junk the story wasn’t bad at all. To be honest i like the little bit we got from Kenna. All she ever wanted was be famous actress on the stage and who usually is all for the Fantasy love story’s is more worry the whole ghostly love interest and the world of Doon. To me she just felt realistic…Well as realistic as you are gonna get when it comes to fantasy books.

Now i don’t hate Veronica just the love mess. She lives with her drunk mother and her step father who is a jerk. Her life is pretty complicated compare to Kenna’s life. She on the hand was supposed to be the more realistic and logical character but you don’t see that in this book. Her and Jamie become less annoying when you start reading more and the story does get a lot deeper. The story is a Romance book but is moe then that. You do get a really good story hidden behind it and the story actually become pretty fun read.

I did love Veronica and Kenna’s Friendship. They reminded me of sisters. The book is a great example of what true friend is. With their friend ship and all the jumble and the over all plot of the story is amazing. The story can get pretty intense but still be funny. You have a great fantasy story of a witch trying to destroy the Kingdom and Veronica and Kenna fight to save the kingdom along the way.

There is a lot more to the story then i have mention but no one likes spoilers so just go out a read it for yourself.

Did i love the story? Not as much as i wanted to but i did like it and very much enjoyed it not counting the flaws. There is a really good story hidden that really amazed me.

Do i recommend it? Sure i know many people who will love the book more then i did. The book is really easy to follow along with and has great characters to fall i love with.
