Summery: Kammy Helseth’s idea of adventure never amounted to more than getting a boat across to the mainland and finally escaping to London. That was until she stumbled through the mouth of the forest into a world beneath our own, the world of the Semei.

Her only wish is to find her way home but when Jamie, her best friend, is taken into this new world of shapeshifters and Crystals she has no choice but to stand up to her fear and to remain beneath the surface. Hunted by Bagor, King of Alashdial, and those that are loyal to him, Kammy finds herself in the company of a group of outlaws led by Jad, a Prince with a bitter past and a similarly bitter demeanour.

They overcome age-old prejudice to find a way to work together. But Bagor knows a secret about the Crystals that threatens to change everything. Kammy and Jad must find a way to thwart the king and to save Jamie, but that is just the beginning. For Kammy is in possession of a Key and the fate of countless lives, both human and Semei, may rest in her hands.

The Wolf’s Cry was more then I could ever imagine. I short of knew the book was gonna be good cause of the summery but I just couldn’t wrap my head around how epic and amazing the story really was. It just blew my mind how good it was and shocked that this book isn’t huge. I feel like everyone should read this book.

Threw out the whole book I was shipping Jad and Kammy hardcore. Noting really happens between them two but I just kept hoping for that kiss but sadly I didn’t and it really just frustrated me. You knew they have thing together but neither one of them over make that move or hint to it. Maybe it’s because both are just so oblivious to the matter or maybe it’s because people like me to squirm.

I did like how it wasn’t this huge cheesy love story and it mostly surrounds the overall plot of the story and wasn’t rushed. But I just needed something for my poor little fan-girl heart. Of course knowing how this series is going I will get that hopefully soon and then I will jump and the air and sequel. I need Kammy and Jad action or I might just lose it.

The Characters in the book was just amazing. I just love how the story doesn’t surround the life of just one character even tho Jad and Kammy where the main of the story but you really got to understand all the other characters and get that connection and without that you would lose that importance to the story they bring.

The story does get a little fast paste and slow downs but it always has something  going on in the book that will have you always wanting more to the story. It was such a great concept and a very unique story line. There is just so much action that always kept the heat pumping. And then Plot twists that will give you a heart attack and question the overall story.

I really am shocked this book isn’t well known and huge in the book world. It has everything that makes a great story, Amazing Characters and Unique Plot.  The story is epic and stays epic to the beginning to the end. The ending will make you rage for more on it’s HUGE freaking cliff hangar that still has my mind going crazy. I really do see this Author rising in the world and I wouldn’t be suppressed seeing more people reading her work. I TOTALLY recommend this book.

Overall: Powerful Characters and a Epic adventure. The book is so much more then meets the eye. I overall loved the book but just so annoyed that Kammy and Jad never kissed and it just freaking makes me fan-girl flipping crazy.

BorderAbout the Author:

I grew up in a village called Swilland, in the countryside of Suffolk, England. There wasn’t much around, other than farms and fields, but for the most part I loved it, and I still do. I’m a passionate person by nature. I don’t just LIKE things, I LOVE things. Whether it’s a book, a film, or a sports team. Once I decide to enjoy something, I enjoy it to the MAX.

I’m a terrible cook. I prioritise essential social media work over keeping my flat tidy, because I know best. I

Onto my love of reading and, consequently, writing – it was my dad that played a big role in encouraging me to read. He didn’t push me towards books necessarily; he simply read a lot himself. Then I would pick up his books and read them after him. I was reading high and epic fantasy from a very young age. I guess that might explain why I have always loved adventure stories with magic and intrigue and princes and princesses in.

I was aware that I wanted to ‘be a writer’ from a very young age. I was convinced I would be the first best seller that hadn’t reached double figures in age yet! I wrote about the Danshees, furry creatures that lived through a mirror. I wrote about a Sand Bottle that transported a boy into a world of magic. I wrote about a sick girl finding a music boy that healed her, but transported her back in time. (Wow, I always have loved alternate universes…)

When I was eight I wrote my first novel called The Land of No Return. Despite the title, I am determined to return to it one day. I feel like I owe it to my past self. So, as you can see, I have always been writing. There have been times when I have gone weeks without scratching down a word. Then there are days where I churn out multiple chapters and only my body’s silly desire for sleep and/or food can stop me.

I write because I enjoy it. I write fantasy because I enjoy it. I try my hardest to put something of myself into my writing. I like to think my characters have depth, I like to think that my fantasy worlds reflect upon the real world in some way. You guys will be the judge of that but even if you don’t agree I know that I at least try and I can do no more than that.

These days I live in North London and I love it. I work full time and London is a hectic city. Juggling work, writing and a social life is tough but nobody is forcing me to do it so I can’t complain. The dream is that writing will be my career one day but it doesn’t matter if I never quite make it. I love writing too much to ever pack it in.

I am desperate to get a dog. My mum suspects I miss my cats at home more than I miss her. I am a devout Arsenal/Ferrari/Rafael Nadal fan. I get all mad when confronted with a case of social injustice and then I get all mad when people take the fight for social justice too far. I mostly keep those thoughts to myself and simmer with rage. I watch good TV and bad TV, because I can. What I can’t do is enjoy bad books (subjective opinion of course). I just can’t.

YA Book Review: The Princess in the Opal Mask by Jenny Lundquiest

Title: The Princess in the Opal Mask
Author:  Jenny Lundquiest
Published:  October 22nd 2013 by Running Press Kids
Type: Fantasy
Source: Won copy from Elana Johnson
Paperback

add-to-goodreads-button3Summery: Orphaned as a child in the crumbling village of Tulan, Elara is determined to learn her true identity, even if it means wielding a dagger. Meanwhile, in Galandria’s royal capital, Princess Wilha stands out as someone to either worship or fear. Though no one knows why the king has always made her conceal her face–including Wilha herself.

When an assassination attempt threatens the peace of neighboring kingdoms, Elara and Wilha are brought face to face . . . with a chance at claiming new identities. However, with dark revelations now surfacing, both girls will need to decide if brighter futures are worth the binding risks.

rb

First Thoughts: The Cover is very eye catching. I love how the colors blend in and how perfect they go togather. I also LOVED the fact it wasn’t someones face zoomed in and you just got a pretty cover with the mask. It fits with the story. When i read the summery for first time i thought ” Wow This sounds like it’s gonna be pretty good ” I just sounded a little different then books i have read. Tho the book did have similarity’s to other things but the author twisted to her own and i thought that was pretty cool.

The Basics: The story starts off with Elara, she was an orphan when she was child and soon taking by a family that well doesn’t treat her all that well. She never knew anything of her real parents or even her name. She gets treated like a maid and lives the ” Poor Life . Living the life made Elara Brave and pretty tuff but she kept her feeling bottle up growing up.

Next you get The Mask Princess Wilha. Living a different more rich lifestyle of a princess then Elara she is left with a burden. She has worn masks since she was a child, sworn to never take it off. Most believe if you stare at her you will be cursed and saved.

Elara and Wilha life’s combine, and Elara most become Princess Wilha Decoy. Elara tying to find out her family past comes across more secrets then she wanted. They both discover that they have more in common then they thought. Now there is a lot more to the story then that but that’s the best you are gonna get out of me of the story. Lots of Eye candy for the lady’s..no joke good luck trying to pick.

Final Thoughts: I love both sides of the characters in the story, it helped bring the story together. I loved how they both had different personalty’s but the same. Elara is more loud spoken while Wilha is more calm and responsible….for the most part ( you kinda watch her come out of her shell ).

I loved how the story was about love and the life of being a princess but it was soo much more then that when they story goes on. it had a lot of “Kick-ass” moments with some suspense sprinkled in. The way the book ends is just my gosh mind blowing. I read the book fairly quickly i loved how it was fast paste. Defiantly a page turner. Good luck finding a dull moment because there is none.

overall loved the story, the characters and the beautiful cover. The story had kinda of a mix of Cinderella and the parent trap ( once you read the book you will understand ) I throw all my stars on this book. Amazing just pure amazing. I don;t understand why not a lot of people haven;t read this book? It’s really good i 100% recommend this book to readers out there.

YA Book Review: The Shadow Garden by Allen Houston

Title: The Shadow Garden ( Nightfall Gardens #2 )

Paperback

add-to-goodreads-button3Summery: Precocious Lily Blackwood carries a responsibility far greater than other people. As the last female Blackwood, she must keep the evils in Pandora’s Box from destroying the world.

With the help of her younger brother Silas, the dusk riders and her best friend Cassandra, she must protect Nightfall Gardens and ensure that the fairy-tale monsters, old gods and deathly shades stay separated from humanity.

But now, the creatures bound to the Gardens are gaining strength and threatening to break loose. Bemisch, a malevolent witch, has escaped into the mist land to join forces with Eldritch, a powerful nature god. The mysterious Smiling Ladies hold the key to a dark secret from the Blackwood family’s past, and something once again roams the halls of the manor, trying to kill Lily.

Worse yet, her fourteenth birthday is approaching and with it a dangerous rite of passage. Lily must enter the Shadow Garden, home of all that is nightmarish, and come face to face with her most terrifying threat yet.

rb

The Shadow Garden has to be my favorite! it was just packed with more action and adventures and you  got more on both Characters of the story and more. I loved the creepy and scary creatures more then the first book. My lights are always on when reading the book…specially when i was home alone..I loved ever minute reading this and was shocked how great the book series ended up being then what i thought. Also i wanted to point how creepy the cover is but perfect all the same. It fits the overall all story of the Shadow gardens.

The beginning starts off with a good start but also heart pounding. you get thrown right from where it leaves off from the last book. Silas and the rest of the group set off in the Shadow Gardens dealing with wolfs and witches. They head off to a village his mother once lived. But was no easy task let me tell you, and geting there wasn’t any better.

And then you get his sister lily in the next chapter. Now i enjoyed her soooo much more then i did in the first book. I had more of connection in this book. and i love her story. lily has grown into something much bigger then the start. I love how she has grown to care for the people in the gardens who did no wrong or has no say. Tho she still has issues with trusting people she should not trust. She grows a bond with Cassandra and they become more then friends but like sisters. She seeks out to find out about the curse and tries to stop it. She becomes more wise then her age while staying in the castle.

I official LOVE Silas and Cassandra. them together make me smile and laugh and cry. Cassandra falls for him even when she tried so hard not to because of her curse. Even when they are separated there feelings grow. when she touches a human they die. Silas has no clue about  it and watching her wanting to tell him made my heart break. they will be my ship of all ships…( i gotta stay off Tumblr )

I have grown more attached to lot of the characters in the book even the big meany ones but have grown to love them, and of course you get to meet  new characters in the book that i just adored. But not all were good and the scary factor in this book rises then the first book and i wasn’t disappointed at all. The last book i felt like there was something missing and that was the scary and creepy, things that bump in the night. It did have those things but it just wasn’t as scary as i would like, but oh the second book..reach that level i was wanting and i was HIGHLY pleased.

The overall plot and the story with just a little mix of romance was perfect for my taste. I couldn’t find a flaw in this book and it is better then the first book and to me that is rare. I love how the story gets better and better threw out the whole book and the mystery that surrounds it.

Overall i recommend this series. once you get to the 2nd book you will just FALL in love with the story. I’m really happy the Author asked me to read his books. I do not regret at all.

add-to-goodreads-button3branded teaser pic

rb

My goodness what a book, i have a lot to say about the book but i am gonna keep it short as possible. Now First the start was freaking depressing, there was moments i was in tears or i really close to tears.

And second i freaking love Lexi and Cole and my goodness how awesome was Zeus? Can i have him as my dog? There was a lot of good characters in the book, but My favorite would have to be Alyssa. She made me cry so much and her personalty was perfect. She was such a awesome character and to me the bravest. There is some characters that will have you rage, and when i say some i mean a lot.

I do want to point out that i do like the book, but Branded can get really detailed on a few subjects that can be hard to read, not that it was bad but it just was so depressingly detailed that made it hard to read. it only happens a couple times in the book. Branded can get really deep with a lot of emotions good and bad.

Branded defiantly had a lot of shocking twists that did suppressed me. I really loved how the book ended it was really bittersweet and touching but you also knew that it wasn’t over, there was more danger to come.  I honestly loved the book. There was a few minor flaws in the book but noting that ruins the overall impact that branded has.

I don’t recommend all readers. The book does touch a lot of sensitive topics like child abuse and rape. That some readers might not want to read about. But really i don’t usually like books that touch those topics but branded and the overall story it just worked for me. without those sensitive topics we wouldn’t have Lexi and who she is. there was not a single Dull moment in this book and it is very fast paste that will have readers flowing with the words. It is a overall a page turner. I want to keep going on and on about the book, but i also don’t want to giveaway too much of the story. Read it for yourself and tell me what you all thought about it. Like i said i don’t recommend all readers but i do recommend it.

YA Book Review: Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Title: Fangirl
Author:  Rainbow Rowell
publication:
 September 10th 2013 by St. Martin’s Press
Type: contemporary, Fiction, romance
Source: Amazon
Ebook

add-to-goodreads-button3Summery: From the author of the New York Times bestseller Eleanor & Park.

A coming-of-age tale of fan fiction, family and first love.

Cath is a Simon Snow fan.

Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan . . .

But for Cath, being a fan is her life — and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving.

Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere.

Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go. She doesn’t want to.

Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words . . . And she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone.

For Cath, the question is: Can she do this?

Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? Writing her own stories?

And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?

rb

I don’t know why it took me so long to read this book, The book was perfect to the tee. I been wanting to read this book for a while now, well because for one the book is called fangirl and i am a fangirl, so win, win.

Right in the beginning it already won me over, i just fell in love with ever detail in this book. I remember every time i used to switch schools and how awkward i was with meeting people and being social. I never been that social person, heck i still have that problem with being social. So i could totally relate to Cath on that part and of course her fangirl obsessions.

you follow the life of Cath she is a Twin, her Twin sister Wren is different then her. she is a more social person then she is, easily makes friends. But they where close. Cath and Wren did everything together. Until they started collage. Cath’s twin wanted to be more apart and for Cath to start making friends on her own. Which hasn’t been easy for Cath. She struggles with being alone and doing stuff on he own. And well she likes to spend her time in her fandom bubble writing fan-fiction. But with Cath’s new roommate, they start what i guess i can call a unusual bond. With a roommate also has a Perks, like Her so called “Boyfriend” Levi. I want to point out is also the coolest character in this book.

With Cath’s Struggle with everything of collage life and her Fan-fiction, you watch her battle with reality. To me Cath is pretty brave. She balanced so much in this book and we just watch in shock that she could handle it and come out strong. It was fun reading about her coming out of the safety net.

Cath and Levi start getting close later in the book and my gosh it was completely adorable and fangirl worthy. You see this amazing guy, Totally into her and she just doesn’t see it and it was so cute. To Cath the only man she cares for is Fiction Character Simon Snow, He was her world. But i can’t blame her..i have a Boyfriend and i still obsess over Fiction men…Specially threw High School….oh the wonderful memory’s. She was just so blinded to what real love was.

There was a lot of moments in the book where i was laughing, crying and just going crazy. The book was a wild ride but a fun wild ride. I bought this book one night and finished by the morning, like i stayed up all night just to finish this book. Now there is sooooo much more to this book then what i have mention..I am not gonna spoil anything major.

Do i recommend this book? WELL DUHH! yes, always a yes. This book was more then a book to me, it is my life and i am not even joking. if you are a fangirl or even a fanboy who can relate will love this book like it’s a bible. If you haven’t read this book yet…you must, like now. This book is one of those books i could re-read over and over again and not get sick of it, it’s that good.

add-to-goodreads-button3Summery: One shocking afternoon, computers around the globe shut down in a viral catastrophe. At sixteen-year-old Adam Daley’s high school, the problem first seems to be a typical electrical outage, until students discover that cell phones are down, municipal utilities are failing, and a few computer-free cars like Adam’s are the only vehicles that function. Driving home, Adam encounters a storm tide of anger and fear as the region becomes paralyzed. Soon—as resources dwindle, crises mount, and chaos descends—he will see his suburban neighborhood band together for protection. And Adam will understand that having a police captain for a mother and a retired government spy living next door are not just the facts of his life but the keys to his survival, in The Rule of Three by Eric Walters.

The book starts off on what seems like a normal day in high school. Adam and his friend Todd in the computer lab, dealing with average life of high school students. But there life changed in just the day. The power goes out, Computers shut down. Cell phones dead and cars not starting. Soon after Adam and his neighborhood has to fight to survive when things go from normal to chaos.

The beginning already had my attention. And what i really liked about the book is the fact on how realistic it was to what could actually happen specially in city’s. People Now all they care about is their computers and tablets and cell phones and their video games. If that gets taking away people would go crazy and who knows what chaos will start. I mean, i am the person who lives on a computer. I am pretty sure i would pull my hair out and hit my head on the wall a few times but then i can hear myself already say “At-least i have my books”

Out of all the characters i did like Adam and Herb together. They just fit so all together it’s really hard to explain. but read the book about them two made read fun. You have Adam who had to grow up pretty fast to help his family and friends. And ten you have harp who leans from Adam about caring and doing what is right. He used to be a spy for the government and used to do things he knew was wrong but did it anyways. Harp forgot about humanity but being around Adam and his mom, you could tell open Harp up more.

Tho there was a character i was a little disappointed about. I really wanted to know more about Lori. you rarely read about her but when you did it would always cut short. I did like the fact the book wasn’t all about the romance and all the love-dovey stuff. But i would have like more about her and Adam. I didn’t get the chance to really know her as much as i would have liked.

Besides what i have said the book was really good, i couldn’t really find major flaws. The book had so amazing characters and interesting ones. The book was really fast paste so it didn’t get dull and boring.

Overall: Awesome Read i do recommend readers to dig in. I can see this book being a favorite of 2014.
